Life is about learning, from one's own experiences and from helpful people along the way. My dad was a toolmaker and machinist. When I was about six-years-old, he brought home a prototype part from his job that he had proudly machined (no CNC). He showed me how it worked and explained that some parts are "+/-0" and also showed me how to use a mic. That was the first time I had a concept of tolerances, thousandths of an inch and that humans make machines!
Then I wondered who were the people behind the ideas? Many years later I developed advanced drawing skills and realized engineering didn't hold the emotion I was looking for. This search lead to finding industrial design -- first at the University of Bridgeport and ultimately transfering to Rhode Island School of Design with book classes at Brown University to round out my education.
I found myself working up from consultancies on the East Coast to design managing in a $10 billion company on the West Coast. The footwear industry has been very good to me, but I harbor a lifelong fascination with all design that drives me to augment an exuberant and diverse body of work.
Recently I committed to the proverbial "quit my day job" to pursue my passion of enhancing quality of life through man-made objects.
